That’s an interesting character to have in front of a library. Is there a deeper story to it, or it is it just a choice of an interesting but not well-known Dickens character?

The Pickwickian Syndrome mostly afflicts Americans who “pig out” on the wrong foods. No relation to Charles Dickens, its manifested by entrapment of the diaphragm due to morbid obesity and increased intra-abdominal pressure, also known as obesity-hypoventilation syndrome. Tis the time of year for exacerbations as such.

Someday there should be a statue of Walter Jeffries in at least one of these small towns, I would hope. Perhaps when local municipalities and governments catch up to the way things could be… would be…. should be.

Thank you Walter for the inspiration. I’ve been quietly admiring your tenacity and prose. You rank with Dickens, in my book, for the work you do.

We farrowed our first piglets yesterday and will again tomorrow as well. We are enamored and grateful. Many blessings from our family to yours,
