That’s Ambition!
He is about 50 lbs. She is about 500 lbs. This doesn’t seem to faze him in the slightest. Some guys just like older women. I can see why, she’s in her prime. He’s got a good eye for the ladies.
He is very eager but she’s not in heat so this did not end well. In fact she’s pregnant and not at all interested. After tolerating his attentions for a moment she spun around and snapped her teeth at him, warning him to be more polite.
These two pigs were on our driveway which temporarily has a fence path across it. Our pastures are greening up so pigs are starting to move out of their winter paddocks out onto warm season pastures. The temporary fencing lets them gradually migrate over from the old area to their summer fields in the north.

Daily Spark: Man’s inability to listen does not change a dog’s ability to talk.
We have a similar size pairing- has this ever worked out for you? It seems silly!
No, they were not actually breeding. He is just a little grower pig with more ambition than sense. She is a pregnant sow who was bred by Spitz, our 600 lb Berkshire boar. A moment after I snapped this photo she spun around and told him to mind his manners and respect his elders.
have you ever seen it actually work between a small boar and big gilt in heat?
Not that great a difference however I have seen boars a little larger than this, perhaps 100 lbs, achieve penetration if they are uphill of the sow and she is cooperating. Even that was a little young for the boar to be producing a fully loaded shot but perhaps he succeeded.
is it possible that he may get the job done while she is laying down?
I’ve seen boars try that but never seen them succeed. I suspect that due to the sows’s anatomy the angle of penetration does not match with their instincts.
