Wild Grape Flowers
This is a wonderful year for grapes if the flowers are any sign. I’ve never seen so many. These are up by the round whey tank growing in one of the trees that shades the dairy from the hot summer sun. There are many hundreds more grape flowers there and down the driveway along the strawberry level.

I love the wild concord type grape. As a teen I remember picking them by the grocery bag full– the old paper bags– and we made them into jams. Delicious. We have them around the farm in the most unlikely spots, seeded by wild birds apparently. THe best one hangs high in a tree overhanding the driveway. THe area underneath becomes spotted with hundreds of squished grapes in the late fall. I”m hoping the chickens will help with clean up this year!
