Green Way Up There!

I was looking at the maple tree across the road and noticed a bit of green way up on the trunk in a very odd spot. Fall foliage is past and maples were red, not green, or completely grey and barren rather, this time of year. On closer inspection I saw a…

…Thistle growing in a tree!

How bizzare. There is a thistle plant growing in the tree. A thistle seed must have blown up and settled in the wrinkles of the maple tree’s bark where some dirt had gotten. It looks amazingly healthy. This is a first year growth. We’ll see if it survives the winter and flowers next year.

    That is totally bizarre! I guess you’ll know it survived the winter when you hear the wind thistling through the branches next year! :)

    The thistle is mostly group of family Asteraceae and also one of a flowering plants. I just got amaze that even in trees they are growing.. :D
