New Chick

Buff Orpington x Americauna Chick

Ben is the collector of eggs. Or, as the birds call him, Voler, Voler! He has been leaving one egg with a hen and got a surprise last week which he posted about over on his blog. The father is a very handsome Americaun rooster. The little chick is doing well – today I saw it and the hen in the brush below the cottage.

So what’s up with the house construction? It’s killing me, are you not working on it at this point?

  2. We’ve been working on summer farm things a lot recently but we have gotten some tiny cottage things done. We’ve done some work on the roof, it’s black now instead of silver. We finished the exterior parge which looks like stone work. A beam got done. The fridge is in and the hot water heater is unpacked and in place awaiting my doing some plumbing work. Currently I’m working on details for the kid’s loft window. With the big project that came up for this year we probably won’t do anything major on the cottage. Still it is nice to have it as far along as it is and it keeps a nice even temperature.

Hi, I just discovered your blog and I have to say I really like the metal frame chicken coop with the insulating wrap.
I’m in the process of finishing up my coop (built mostly of scrap wood we had lying around) and I wish I had discovered your way of doing it earlier!

Your posts are very informative especially because our winter climates are similar (south/central Minnesota) and my property is also quite hilly, so it’s nice to see how you deal with it.

Ok already- as a regular, breathless reader I am dying to know what the big project is! I read that someone local guessed but how about unveiling the news for the rest of the world? Puhleeze?

  5. Sal, in a few months we’ll have news… Nothing showing yet.
