This photo is from the south end of our sugar bush. The snow covered spruce trees reminded me of an army of tall thin people all marching through the forest in the same direction, southeast, because the snow had blanket them from the northwest. It was late in the afternoon when I took this photo. The woods had a dark, somber quality to them. Due to the low light I had to brace my new Fuji FinePix E900 camera against the trunk of a maple tree to hold it steady for the long exposure.
Do NOT buy the Fuji FinePix E900 digital camera. See this update.

It’s a beautiful shot, Walter. Look at that snow! We didn’t get any today, and the Champlain Valley barely had an inch in most places.
Just thought Id pop in and say “Howdy Neighbour” *lol* :-)
I can totally see them marching through The Shire!
Spooky
a delightfully chilly shot.
Cool pic! Did you know some of the lotrs movie was shot in vermont?
they do look like snow elves don’t they :)
Interesting about the Lord of the Rings Movie being filmed some here in Vermont. I think I’ve read that before. Anyone know which part? The forest scenes? I thought most of it was done in New Zealand(?).
It looks like they’re all sad with their arms hanging low. But it’s such a beautiful picture! You don’t have to think a minute to see what you mean :) Good job
