First Fall Foliage

Actually, no, it is not fall yet. But the leaves are pretty. There is a small maple tree the pigs and sheep have been rubbing against along the stone wall. The sheep also nibbled on the bark some so that maple is a bit stressed to say the least. When a tree gets stressed its leaves often turn quite vivid colors. Looks like fall — fortunately it is not yet as I have many a project to finish before the snows fly. I ordered hay yesterday.

This tree gave us a chance to explain to Hope, who is two, about the leaves changing color soon. She thought that was rather silly until she saw this tree. Then she thought it was pretty. I think she remembers the snow from last winter but had forgotten about the leaves turning color.

By the way, if you click on the photo it will give you a bigger sized image which you can drag out to your desktop or save to your hard drive. I am currently using this as my desktop background picture. A preview of things to come.
