
Middle of April Green
Yes, it still looks like this here on the mountain. That is a photo taken on April 1st but it is no joke, it looks almost exactly the same today, April 13th. Winter is digging in it’s claws with a few inches of snow many nights.
But there is good news on the northern horizon! Looking at the far end of the valley I see patches of bare ground, small ones I admit, about a mile further up on the ridges towards Knox Mountain. That mountain side faces directly south so it always melts off sooner than our fields. It is our indication that there will soon be patches of brown on our pastures and then… green!
