Miss Moose at Marshlands

Young Moose

We spotted this moose at Riddle Pond today. Not a spotted moose. Not a stripped moose. A young moose, a cow I think. She studied us for a while and then headed up the mountain into the high north valley we share with her, the bear, deer, beaver and various other critters.

Later we spotted what may have been a peregrine falcon.

Even later I spotted a tiny turtle hatchling. Probably eastern painted turtle.

That is SO cool! Something we will never see down here in GA! Although, I think she looks more like a chocolate moose! :)

I’m jealous! I have to drive quite a way to see much wildlife. We do have a few falcons that live not far away though!

Great picture. We have a pair of young moose living in the willow marsh areas in one of our pastures this year. Beautiful, stately creatures but a bit hard on fences. Lots of birds of prey as well, being as we live on the edge of a very large marsh-lake filled with seagulls, ducks, geese, swans, coots, muskrats, etc etc etc.

Gotta love getting to live close to what is left of nature.
