Winter Sunrise

Sunrise About to Burst

We see a lot of sunrises climb over the mountains to our east from the vantage point of our tiny cottage clinging to the east side of the ridge. From the old farm house we never got views like this. Here is is what I caught one morning…

Sunrise Seconds Later

…and 27 seconds later I got this photo with the fireball bursting over the horizon. To my eye the disk of the sun was visible although it did not show in the photo. The transition was dramatic. Moments later I watched the shadows retreated along the hills.

Very nice pictures. I have experienced something similar when I served in the Navy. I saw the sun rise on the horizon in the middle of the ocean. Wished I got pictures. Thanks for posting!

Very pretty, Walter. Thanks for sharing your sunrise with us. I think everyone is blessed with these beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I have several pictures of them also. Part of God's paint brush at work.

  3. Walter,
I just read the story about you in the Farm Show Magazine. Really, really great. I turned the page and caught my breath when I saw your article. So exciting!

We built our log cabin style chicken house from an article we saw in the magazine. We read it from cover to cover when we get it. Awesome article.

Plus, I must say that your pictures are beautiful!

You captured the dawn exquisitely well, Walter, and it truly is a magical time when the sun says 'Hi'. Our sunrise is obsured by trees, and sunset is obsured by a ridge, nevertheless we do still manage some great dawns and dusks. And it is nice to stand still and observe the shadows change as the light comes, and it is good that you took the time to do just that.
