Meeting Mushroom

Particularly Pretty Pop-up

This mushroom shot up so fast there are pieces of gravel still on it’s cap despite the rain. Now you don’t see them, now you do. It is amazing how fast they come up out of the soil.

    Hi Walter & Holly,

just wanted to say how much my husband & I have been enjoying your blog. We initially found it when searching for plans for a winter coop for our chickens, and we'll be trying to recreate your winter coop and sunroom this year, so thanks for sharing that! :) We're just up to the north of you, in Ontario, and love Vermont…beautiful scenery there for sure.
Thanks for sharing your experiences with farming with the rest of us!

  3. Hmmmm. Something that thrives in cold, wet environments. Must be an Irish Mushroom. Slainte' ! (that would be "cheers" in Gaelic)

    That is one odd mushroom.
    Poisonous?
I get a kick out of your blog too!

  5. That's a Shaggy Mane mushroom. Delicious. We used to pick them by by garbage bag full and freeze them, but they don't grow where we are now. It's a very easy mushroom to identify and doesn't have a lot of poisonous look a likes. Dice and fry up with some fresh farm eggs..Mmmmm.

  6. Just one thing I should have mentioned. It is best to avoid booze before or during consumption. Sometimes there is a rare, temporary condition that can happen in certain individuals. I may have witnessed it once but the individual had two bottles of Chardonnay in her..
