Misty Days in January

PastureMist

Mists rolling own the Hills.

With the warm weather we’ve been having some incredible misty days. We’re often up above the mists looking down into the valley at them. Other times there will be mists rolling down the fields. The shot above is of the latter although it does not show it as clearly as I would like. The trees are all covered in large droplets of water that make them gleam like chandeliers in the noon day light. The time of day that this happened is part of what is so odd. Very magical.

The mist is beautiful but the odd part is normally we would have a couple of feet on the ground. In fact, for the past 18 years we have never not had snow. We don’t today.

Beautiful pictures, Walter. I especially like the one of the apple orchard. How’s the weather next door? We started out with a blustery day this morning in southern NH, but the wind has since died down, the sky is a brilliant blue, and the sun is just beaming. I only hope my bulbs don’t mistake these balmy days for spring!

The pictures are beautiful. I noticed the temps in the cottage. That is impressive given the overcast skies.

  4. Patti says:

Have you lived anywhere other than Vermont?

  5. Patti: Alaska, NH, Maine, Belgium, England, France.

GrannyGardner: It cleared later in the day here. Even on a overcast day we get solar gain. Putting the door on seems to have made a big difference. I can’t wait to get the windows in place. Soon…

Emily: We actually visited NH today. Clear skies there along the Connecticut River Valley. We went down to my folks to celebrate my son’s birthday.
